Textile Tour at our production unit & store and details for a hands-on workshop.
We accept groups of textile enthusiasts for such textile tours at a nominal charge. The half day tour includes a guided tour of our production facilities, meeting our master crafts persons, taking an hour long workshop on block printing, tie & dye or embroidery, visiting our textile Archive and viewing old and rare textiles, viewing our Textile library, experiencing our Digitizing Centre and finally shopping at Weavers Studio with a traditional Bengali & Gujarati vegetarian lunch and tea/coffee. We also show them some nice textile films followed by a talk about our not for profit trust's activities and revival efforts.
Each participants takes back home the textile they have created using hand block printing or embroidery or tie & dye. They get to see spinning, reeling, yarn dyeing, weaving, dyeing fabrics using natural dyes, hand block printing, shibori, batik and embroidery and understand the efforts that go into creating each of these beautiful and unique textiles. We have, till today, never met a group that did not enjoy this experience.
Over the years, we have seen a gradual increase in the number of groups that are booking such workshops with us; mostly foreign nationals. There are very few places in India that offer such a wholesome learning experience under one roof.
