Arashi Shibori Jacket/Coat Dress

In collaboration with the master of fashion – Rohit Bal. This open coat/jacket dress was made of 13 mtrs of Arashi Shibori with just very little intervention of scissor, needle and thread. Japanese Arashi Shibori textile- which is fabric wrapped around a pole and hundreds of meters of string wrapped where slowly 2 people push down the fabric. Then dye in natural Indigo. It is then dried and washed on the pole itself. Once again sun-dried after which we open the strings. Arashi Shibori is a Japanese technique that leaves the fabric naturally crinkled due to the tightness on the pole and almost 30-60 day process, depending on the intensity of the design and folds.
