Tussar Silk Kantha saree- Exclusive Pieces

This saree was hand drawn by an artist living in Shantiniketan. This was then hand embroidered in the Kantha technique using different stitches to outline, fill and texture the border and the aanchal- due to the design being heavy, the body of the saree has been kept plain, the base fabric being handwoven tussar. This embroidered saree tells the story of the tribal village, the people, nature, animals and daily life. These sarees cannot be reproduced identical to this creation due to its hand drawn technique and “what you see is what you draw and what you’ve drawn is what you’ve embroidered”. The cotton thread used to embroider have been naturally dyed in catechu and mordented with an extract from minerals.
